To Lighten the Mood~

I decided today to...
>>>(Go ahead, you know you want to...)>>> Have FUN!
Not just because it's my Dad's Birthday, but because it's time.
I am asking you to join me.
As you can tell...
I am throwing all of my normal,
 to the wind.
Taking a moment to enjoy life.
It will not always be perfect, but nothing ever is...
I am taking a moment to live in the moment.
To be Thankful for all of the Blessings in my life.
We are never promised tomorrow.
So today, I ask you to take time...
Look around,
be
 Thankful for all of the,
 Wonderful things in your life.
It is easy to find fault,
 be angry,
 or see what is wrong
 with everything,
that is going on in the world right now.
Close your eyes, shut out everything that is not positive.
Take a deep breath, let go of everything that is weighing you down.
Focus on the people and moments that bring a smile to your face and brings love to your heart.

The Power of 3~

I read this story and felt that it was worth sharing with you.
It is a story of Love, Hope & Family.
I hope that maybe after reading this, you will get checked. Convince a friend to get checked, and you might even ask to see your own films.
Just so you know...
We are the keeper of our own health, breast and otherwise.
We need to be an active participant.
Be a partner with your doctor.
The life you save, might just be your own!
XoXo
Three sisters are battling for their lives.  All three were diagnosed with breast cancer and each has gone through a double mastectomy.
Their great-grandmother had breast cancer, their mother had breast cancer, and in just the past eleven months, all three sisters were diagnosed with breast cancer and opted for surgery.
To make matters worse, Kathleen O'Brien just found out she has to do chemotherapy and radiation.
As you can imagine, the medical bills are through the roof.
Kathleen says the problem she's facing is she’s spent most of her life savings helping to take care of her sister's medical bills.
Finally some peace of mind came in the form of a 10-thousand square foot building here in the Valley. It's called Editha House. It’s a 16-room, affordable housing alternative for adult cancer patients and their caregivers.
The cost for a private room is a nightly donation of just $20 for a studio, and $40 for a 1-bedroom or loft.
To stay, you must have a referral from a medical professional.  Rooms are occupied on a first come first serve basis.
Valley Entrepreneur, John Kapoor, spearheaded the effort to honor his wife who passed away from Breast Cancer seven years ago.
“After being given the devastating blow to have chemo and radiation, I know to come back here and stay here for seven weeks, it’s like having my sisters and my mother here.  I think it makes my family feel better and it’s an amazing place,” Kathleen says.
Now , Kathleen hopes her story will remind all women to get tested and mammograms because early detection is so important.  In the meantime, she hopes all women will ask to see their mammogram film.
She saw her film and pointed out some inconsistencies to her doctor.  Kathleen says that likely saved her life.

Savvy Saturday~ The Glo Bag

This Savvy Saturday I get to tell you about the Glo Bag.  I love this gym bag!
I am a proud owner of the Gold Glo Bag, which I have used  for the last year.  Mine has been used for more than just going to the gym.  I have taken it on the plane as a carry on, went to the beach to keep everything neat and even went on a hike.
I will never use another bag.
This is hands down the easiest way to keep organised, and every thing stays clean.
You even have a spot to put your shoes, so they can air out away from your clothes.
The wet bag is wonderful!  I have used it on my 3-Day walks to hold all of the items I am done with, until I can get home to wash them.  I actually use it as a pillow on event.
The hanging shower bag gives you enough room to carry everything you need &
it has it's own hook so you don't have to lay it on the counter.
The bags are well constructed, and easy to clean.
If you get a bag that has the Gold or Silver detailing
on it, is a beautiful detail that you usually don't see on a gym bag.
It even has a matching bead toggle that hangs off of the zipper to give it an
extra special touch.
Jennifer and Kendra have thought of everything!

Jennifer Koutouras and Kendra Cunningham are two moms living next door to one another in a North Chicago Suburb. They have come together to design a proper gym bag. After many frustrating encounters at the gym, they decided that the bag must address the following questions:

1. Why won’t my bag fit in the locker at the gym without turning it every which way?
2. Why do I have to continually remove the bag and put it back in, in an effort to dig through and find what I need?
3. Why can’t I keep my shoes away from my other things, and quickly grab needed items (like toiletries) without hassle?
Owners~ Kendra & Jennifer
Jennifer has an MBA from DePaul University, and a background in the Finance industry. She has two children, and loves going to the gym to unwind and recharge.
Kendra has a fine arts degree, and has worked on TV and films as a costumer. She has two children, and as a busy mom, yoga is her favorite way to decompress. She likes to take the Glo bag to her yoga class as well as on weekend getaways where it fits nicely in the overhead bin or under the seat.
This ultimate gym backpack keeps everything separate and accessible. It can stand or hang in most gym lockers.
It is made with two shelves which create three compartments. The bottom compartment is intended for shoes and has vents for air circulation. The middle shelf is for the Glo Cosmetic Bag and/or Wet Bag. The upper compartment is enclosed in mesh to keep everything in its place and is a good spot for your clean clothes. There is also a convenient cell phone pouch on the backpack strap and a water bottle holder.
Made with durable ballistic nylon. Easy to wipe clean.
Dimensions: 9"w x 18"h x 14"d
Fits up to men's shoe size 14 (women's 16)

Fantastic Foodie Friday~ Beef & Broccoli Stir-fry with Apple-Sesame Salad

12 ounces trimmed lean steak
2 cloves garlic, crushed
Dash of chili oil
1/2-inch piece of ginger, grated
1/2 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 pound broccoli florets
1/4 cup beef broth
Juice and grated zest of 1 orange
2 teaspoons cornstarch
4 teaspoons water
2 cups steamed rice (from 2/3 cup raw regular rice or 1 cup instant)
1/4 cup thin carrot strips
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro

Cut steak into thin strips and place it in a shallow bowl. Add the garlic, chili oil, ginger, Chinese five-spice powder, and 2 tablespoons of the soy sauce. Stir to coat the meat. Cover the bowl and place in the refrigerator to marinate for at least 2 hours. While the meat is marinating, start the Apple-Sesame Salad (recipe follows).
Heat 1 tablespoon of the olive oil in a wok or large skillet over medium heat. Add the broccoli and stir-fry for 4 to 5 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside. Add remaining tablespoon of olive oil to the wok and heat medium high. Add the marinated steak and stir-fry for 2 to 3 minutes, until brown and seared. Return the broccoli to the wok and add the remaining tablespoon of soy sauce, the beef broth, and the orange juice. Blend the cornstarch and water in a small bowl. Bring the mixture in the wok to a boil and add the cornstarch slurry, stirring until the sauce is thick and clear. Cook for 1 minute more.
Put 1/2 cup of rice on each serving plate and top with the meat, broccoli, and sauce. Garnish with carrot strips. Sprinkle with the orange zest and the cilantro. Serve with a side of Apple-Sesame Salad.

Apple-Sesame Salad

2 cups fresh bean sprouts
1 1/2 tablespoons fresh mint, chopped
3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1/2 teaspoons mild chili powder
1 teaspoon sugar substitute
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 stalks celery, cut in 1-inch pieces
1 large red bell pepper, cut in small pieces
1 large Granny Smith apple, cored and cut in small chunks
2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds

Soak the bean sprouts in ice water for 10 to 15 minutes; clean and drain. (They should be fresh and crunchy.) Place them in a large serving bowl and keep refrigerated.
For the dressing, combine the mint, lime juice, chili powder, sugar substitute, and salt in a small bowl and mix thoroughly. Set aside.
Add the celery, peppers, and apples to the bean sprouts and mix gently. Just before serving, pour the dressing over the salad and toss well to mix. Sprinkle with the sesame seeds.

Dear Friends --
We need your help!
We have a friend with Stage 4 Inflammatory Breast Cancer, who against all odds, in the craziest of circumstances, is pregnant.
With twins. Her babies are sick... and they need a miracle to survive.
We know God makes miracles -- their existence is a miracle!
Will you pray with us, and ask all your friends to do the same?

  Dear God...
You have the power of healing. You have the ability to grant miracles.
T's babies ARE a miracle...
but they NEED a miracle to make it into the world.
Please God....
Give T's babies a miracle and use them to bring honor and glory to your name.
Amen.
