Monday~

To some just hearing Monday, can trigger a host of responses.  Sadly, most are a negative reaction.  I have to go back to work, school or jump back into my routine. Blahhh...  Time for the fun to end, and get back to serious business.  Today, I decided that I was not going to fall into that trap.  I spent the day playing with the kids and then decided to check in on the world of Facebook.  I happened to run across a company that is owned and operated by women, and I am very interested in trying their product.  Once I receive it, I am going to try it out, & then introduce you to it in my Savvy Saturday post.  I want to blurt out right now about it and tell you everything that I know, but I am resisting the temptation.  I found a quote that I found appropriate for today seeing that it would have been Martin Luther King, Jr.'s 83rd Birthday today.

Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'

To Take a Pause~

Tonight I am asking you to take a moment of silence and remember all of our Sisters & Brothers that have fought so valiantly, and have lost their battle against breast cancer.  It seems as though in the last few weeks we have lost many loved ones. ( Maybe not more than before, but more that I have been made aware of...)  Many hearts are hurting right now and people are feeling lost and alone, feeling the absence of their loved one.  I am just asking for you to take a moment of pause and reflect maybe on someone that you have lost, or just take a moment and send up a prayer for someone in need of comfort.  We all can use a helping hand at one point or another in our pursuit of finding a cure for cancer.  Many of us have joined together, some of us have never met, but we have formed a family.  We are always willing to welcome with open arms new "family members".  You can find us on Facebook under the Susan G. Komen 3-Day or You know you are a Susan G. Komen 3-Day walker when...
Even if you have no desire to walk 60 Miles in 3 Days, there are still things that you can do.  As I stated before, at one point or another we can all use support.

Fantastic Foodie Friday~ Chia Muffins

Chia seeds are the new superfood health experts are talking about. These nutrient-packed seeds have been shown to fight cancer and suppress appetite while providing mega amounts of calcium and omega-3s. How can you incorporate chia into your diet? This muffin recipe is a tasty and delicious way to get your dose.  I have found another easy way to add them is into your health drinks or after work out shakes.

Ingredients
1 tbsp ground chia seeds
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup sweet potato purée
1 cup unsweetened apple sauce
2 egg whites
1/2 cup agave syrup
2 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp lemon zest
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup dried cranberries

Directions
Mix together wet ingredients. In a separate bowl, mix dry ingredients.

Fold wet ingredients into dry ingredients.

Scoop into muffin tins and bake for 15-20 minutes at 350˚F.

Taking the Plunge!~

Well, I did it!  I just signed up to participate in Ohio's Polar Bear Plunge.  It will be held on February 25th 2012.  I will take the plunge around 2:00pm! I participated in this event about 10 years ago when I first moved to Ohio.  I figured it was time to do it again.  Now, if I can raise a minimum of $888.00 before February, I can take place in their "New Challenge"  The Super Plunge.  Eight Hours, Eight Plunges.   I would jump in once an hour for eight hours in a row.  Needless to say, The Super Plunge is a unique experience!
So as much as I might be challenged... I am willing to do it if you are willing to support my efforts.  I usually don't take on other events that I need to generate donations for, as I have to raise so much for the 3-Day events that I participate in. But this year, I am going to make an exception.
2012 is FULL of Possibilities and I am up for the challenge!  Here is the secure link if you would like to help me in my efforts.  I promise, no matter what...If I raise the $$ I will post pictures as well as tell you the whole story, no edits!  LOL  I may even need to get some
"Chickens" to join me!
Yes, they even have a category for people that have no intention of plunging, but are willing to raise a minimum of $30.00.
Maybe, I could even have my own
"Chicken" Cheering Section!
( Yes, you would get a T-shirt, "Too Chicken To Plunge" )
I'm going to need lots of support to do all 8, but it would be GREAT!  So, tell a friend & help me push the limits!

Make the Plunge! Donate Here to watch me take on the Challenge...
