Fantastic Foodie Friday~ Orange Smoothie
A low-calorie, healthy smoothie that tastes just like a creamsicle. A perfect post-workout thirst quencher or mid-afternoon snack. Here are a few different ways to make it... Use at least 1/2 cup Greek yogurt. If you use vanilla yogurt, you can eliminate the vanilla extract. If you put the peeled orange and the Greek yogurt in the freezer for a few hours before using, you can eliminate the ice cubes, which will be fine since you've increased the yogurt. I didn't have the orange juice concentrate when I made mine, but I really enjoyed the flavor anyway. I'm not going to worry about the concentrate unless I have it on hand. The other easy ways to add protein is by adding a nut butter or by using a protein powder - I just happen to use Greek yogurt for everything possible (0% fat) - it replaces sour cream, mayonnaise, regular yogurt, Crème fraiche, etc ... Here is another twist... The orange concentrate could be omitted, just add orange yogurt and soy milk.
