I never thought that my eating was that bad. I rarely eat out and fast food might be a choice if I am on a long road trip. So, how did I get here? I, like many people didn't realize that all of those easy to prepare comfort foods that we love so much are killing us, one bite at a time. The longer that the food item can sit on the shelf without going bad, the worse it is for you! I have given up many things over the years especially when I was pregnant. I gave up everything that had nitrates in them along with lots of other things. There were times that I missed my bacon, linked sausages or hot dogs, but I knew that I was giving them up for a good reason. So, I am going to do it again. This time not for the health of my unborn child, but for my health and hopefully I will be able to bring my family along in this journey. Another thing that is crippling people is that they have lost sight of what a portion is or have never learned what one is. I can tell you that it isn't eating a 12 inch sub in one sitting with chips, cookies and a large soda to wash it all down. Yes, it may taste good and you enjoy what your eating, but when do you say when? Well, I am saying when and when is now for me. I'm not getting any younger ( sad to say ) and apparently the scale as well as my clothes aren't miraculously going to change without my conscious dedication to making a change. So, like someone that is trying to quit smoking, drinking or drugs. I have to take this one day at a time. I will miss you my Chocolate, Mountain Dew and Dairy Queen, but when I am feeling better, looking better and living healthier will I actually miss you?
